Charcoal on white cartridge paper where the paper is covered first in the black ash and highlights are taken out with a putty rubber. Then use Indian Ink to make a tonal representation of the head. Facing out of the picture; with more space above; trying to get into difficult angles in relation to the sitter (recommended for the younger, more agile members of the group); changing the angle of the head by tilting the paper. Week 3. The painting. By putting into practice the previous two sessions' experience come up with a swift one session colour image that in some small way breaks with convention.
