We are a Stockport-based group of over 150 amateur and professional artists. We have regular portrait and life drawing sessions and we hold an annual exhibition of our work at the Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery. This year we will be celebrating our 100th anniversary. Whatever your artistic ability, you’d be very welcome to come to a free ‘taster’ session before joining the guild.
CALENDAR OF EVENTS
MEMBERS UPDATE
We thought our members would like to know that the Macclesfield Open has just announced a ‘call for entries’ for an online art exhibition which will run from 12th June – 16th August 2020.
It’s free to enter (although they are asking for voluntary donations to East Cheshire Hospice) and all artwork submitted will be exhibited. This is a great opportunity to raise your artistic profile and sell your work.
The deadline for submissions is Friday 5th June and further information can be found on maccopen.org.uk.
BECOME A MEMBER OF STOCKPORT ART GUILD

100 YEARS OF STOCKPORT ART GUILD
The Stockport Art Guild was founded in 1919 and grew out of the Arts and Crafts movement inspired by William Morris. Since our foundation, our aim has always been to promote and encourage artistic expression by everyone within our community. Notable past members include Harry Rutherford, James Chettle, Frederick Davenport Bates and Wilfred Colclough.
The guild has been based in the Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery since it was built shortly after the First World War and we continue to be based there to this day.
To celebrate Stockport Art Guild’s Centenary we have produced a fascinating book that chronicles our 100-year history. To find out more, please click here.
